Sheriff's Advisory Council
What is a SHADCO? http://www.coj.net/departments/sheriffs-office/curfew-and-truancy-laws/citizen-involvement/sheriff-s-advisory-councils-(shadcos).aspx
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (the JSO) has established Sheriff's Advisory Councils (SHADCOs) throughout the city to build partnerships and understandings between the JSO and residents of Jacksonville, and to develop community-based strategies for reducing criminal activity and improving police service.
SHADCOs compliment Neighborhood Watches, which citizens can use to exchange crime information and request police resources. There are usually three SHADCOs in each of the city's six zones (one for each sector within each zone), for a total of seventeen SHADCOs city-wide.
Zone 2 (the Greater Arlington area) is home to approximately 180,000 residents across three sectors (sectors D, E, and F) and almost 76 square miles -- all served by approximately 140 police officers. Within Sector "Foxtrot", sub-sector F-1 covers the Fort Caroline area, sub-sector F-2 covers the Intercostal area, and sub-sector F-3 covers portions of Mayport.
SHADCO-F is the Sheriff's Advisory Council for Zone 2, Sector F (including the three sub-sectors) -- roughly from Saint John's Bluff Road to Mayport Road, north of Beach Boulevard. We are a group of neighborhood representatives and volunteers that meets monthly with the JSO to exchange information and voice concerns about our area.
SHADCO-F usually meets at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Police Athletic League facility (3450 Monument Road). Everyone is welcome. We usually have a guest speaker from the city or state, and we occasionally take trips to various law enforcement facilities.
